Everybody has their fantasy league and we know that there are plenty of people that play in a league with IDP included but it is very rare to have an ALL-IDP League. That’s right, you’re reading it correctly. The Blitz Invitational is ALL Independent Defensive Players and no offensive players included.
The Blitz Invitational is by far the most difficult fantasy league I participate in each year, as it includes some of the fantasy industry’s biggest names in the IDP community. Senior writers, radio personalities, and webmasters from all around the globe. And YES, before you ask, one of our owners is from Sweden. Having knowledge of the NFL is a must but being an IPD expert is mandatory if you want to keep afloat in this league.
Week 7 Recap: Shit! @#%@*&!!!! $##@!!!!!! The week 7 match-up with Shawn McKeown proved to be the battle of the slow children. While both Shawn and I had solid teams heading into the week, they just under performed and did our winning records absolutely no justice with both teams dead last for total points on the week. There were just some flat out mysteries this week with a few of our start players simply just not showing up.
Stud linebacker Curtis Lofton wasn’t his usual super-human self with only 3 solo tackles and two assists. Bart Scott was held to just two tackles in a blowout win and DE Adwale Ogunleye was also upsetting with only two solo assists to his name. Gary Brackett sunk us this week but it’s probably a result of him coming back from injury a little too fast. While I’ve been very satisfied with rookie James Laurinaitis, he turned in an average game last week with only 4 solo tackles but I’m not totally upset since he’s been a stud every other week up to now.
Safety Adrian Wilson stole the show this week though, as he was spectacular against the Giants and was all over the field. It just wasn’t our week but you can see the mediocrity for yourself below . . .
Scoring System: 2pts for solo tackles, 1pt for assists, 2pts for every o.5 sack, 4pts for an INT, 1pt for passes defensed, 3pts for a forced fumble, 3pts for a fumble recovery, 6pts for a safety, and of course 6pts for a TD.
Week 8 Preview: I’ll just be honest, we’re desperate for a win this week and it won’t come easy against one of my good buddies Derek Galipeau, aka- “Wizzinator”. He is the reigning champion of Shock & Awe, as well as the winner of the first inaugural “Put Up Or Shut Up” League and that is why some folks call him the “Fantasy God”. His squad features a dynamic duo at linebacker with Jonathan Vilma and Justin Durant but here’s his prospective lineup for week 8. . .
Starting Requirements: 11 Total Starters; DTs: 1-2, DEs: 2 LBs: 1-4, CBs: 1-5, Ss: 1-2

I’m liking our team this week with Derek Cox and DeAndre Levy coming back but I’m very excited to have Gerald Sensabaugh make a return to the roster after breaking his thumb. Our linebackers are stout, the secondary is in pretty good shape, but we’ll need a lot of luck from our defensive line if we want to get a “W” this week.
You can check out the craziness of the match-up from week 8 right here. . .
Minielf Mercenaries (4-3) vs Niagara Falls Thunder (1-6) <= Live Matchup Link
We’ll be back next week to tell the tale and keep you up to date with the madness that is the Blitz Invitational!!!
